Valentina Kozlova Dance Conservatory of New York is dedicated to providing the highest level of dance instruction to primary through pre-professional students, preparing them for a professional career in dance.
Ms. Kozlova was born in Moscow, where she studied at the Bolshoi school and later became Principal dancer with the world famous Bolshoi Ballet Company. She defected from the USSR in 1979 and performed as Guest Artist with the world's major ballet companies until 1983 when George Balanchine invited her to join New York City Ballet as Principal Dancer. In 2003, she founded her own school, Valentina Kozlova Dance Conservatory of New York.
Ms. Kozlova has been featured in major dance publications such as Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine and Dance Spirit.  She has also received numerous "Outstanding Teacher" awards and has acted as judge for the major international competitions..
In addition to her position as Director of VKDCNY, she is also Chairman of the not-for-profit Dance Conservatory Performance Project, which presents performances of her students along with Guest Artists during the year.  Most recently she became the Founder and Artistic Director of VKIBC (Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition) which was presented in Boston as BIBC in 2011 - 2102,  and then moved to New York in 2013.  In 2014, VKIBC presented the first edition of its Competition for Contemporary Choreographers and Dancers in April with amazing artistic results.
2015 will mark the next VKIBC, which will have national and international semi-finals, leading up to the finals at New York's Symphony Space Theater, May 26 - 30.
